Turn a Korean HWP document into Word

Converting HWP to .docx is the practical way to edit a Korean document when you do not own Hancom Office. The result opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages, so you can edit, comment and collaborate normally.

Fonts, character and line spacing, indents, tables with their merged cells, borders and shading, images, footnotes, headers and footers carry over. Headings set by outline level or style keep their size and weight but do not become Word Heading styles, and automatic paragraph numbers may not carry over. If you need the original layout preserved exactly rather than edited, convert to PDF instead.

Frequently asked questions

Are tables kept?
Rows, columns, merged cells, column widths, border widths and colours, and cell shading are all kept.
Headers and footers?
Headers, footers and page numbers are carried over.
Will the layout match the original?
Fonts, spacing, tables, images, footnotes and page setup carry over, but headings set by outline or style do not become Word Heading styles and automatic paragraph numbers may not carry over. Use HWP to PDF if exact appearance matters.
Can I open the result in Google Docs?
Yes. It is a standard .docx file.
Is Hancom Office required?
No.
