Remove EXIF

Photos for a classified ad, holiday pictures for a blog, a screenshot of a receipt sent to a colleague: most of them carry the coordinates of wherever the shutter was pressed. Some sites remove that for you, plenty do not, and a file attached to an email or sent through a chat app goes out exactly as it came off the phone. This tool cuts the GPS position, the camera model, the timestamps and the rest of the metadata out and hands back a clean copy.

For JPG, PNG and WebP there is no loss of quality whatsoever. The image data is copied across untouched and only the metadata segments are cut away, so the pixels in the result are byte for byte identical to the original. What goes is EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and any comment left in the file, including the prompt that AI tools write into their output. The one thing a JPG keeps is its rotation flag, because a phone stores a portrait photo sideways and relies on that flag to stand it up. The ICC colour profile is kept by default, because removing it can leave photos shot in a wide colour space looking washed out, but it does name your device as well, so clear the checkbox if you want nothing identifying left at all.

An iPhone's HEIC works differently: the picture is redrawn and saved as a JPG, which certainly removes the metadata but does re-encode the image. You can drop in a whole batch and take the results as a ZIP. Your originals are never modified, a new file is written alongside them, so keep the original if the shooting date might matter to you later.
