Markdown into a Korean submission format

Korean universities, government offices and many companies still require documents in Hangul format, and a file written in Markdown is not accepted. Retyping it into Hancom Office is wasted work, and Hancom is not installed on most machines outside Korea in the first place.

Write or open your Markdown, check the preview, and choose the output. Hancom Office 2014 and later open both .hwpx and .hwp, so pick .hwp only for older installations. Headings, paragraphs, lists and tables carry over; Markdown has no merged cells, so tables arrive as a plain grid.

Detailed font styling and page layout reset to defaults, so open the result and apply whatever template the recipient requires before submitting. Either output loads a conversion engine of about ten megabytes the first time, which is a genuine wait. The conversion itself runs in your browser and the document is not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Merged cells?
Markdown tables have no merges, so a plain grid is produced. An HTML table written in the Markdown keeps its merged cells.
Links and images?
Link text is kept but the address is not carried over. Only images embedded as data URLs are included, and code blocks become ordinary paragraphs.
The first conversion is slow.
Both .hwpx and .hwp output load a conversion engine of about 10 MB the first time.
