A link nobody wants to type

Printed material cannot be clicked. A poster with a registration page, a table card pointing at a menu, a slide with the survey link, a business card with a portfolio address: in each case someone has to get from paper to a browser without transcribing a long URL by hand. A QR code is simply that address in a form a camera can read.

The address is encoded directly into the pattern, so the code has no expiry date, no redirect in the middle and nothing that counts scans. Long URLs make a denser grid that is harder to read from a distance or at small sizes, so shorten the link before generating if you can. Choose SVG when the code is going into print or a layout, because it stays sharp at any size, and PNG for slides, screens and chat.

Keep a clear white margin around the code, avoid placing it over a busy photograph, and scan the final artwork with a phone at the real distance before ordering five hundred copies. Because there is no redirect service involved, the destination cannot be changed once the code is printed; if you expect the target to move, point it at a URL you control and forward from there. The code is generated in your browser and the address you enter is never sent anywhere or logged.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code expire?
No. The address itself is encoded in the code, nothing goes through our servers, so it works as long as the link exists.
Can I track scans?
This is a static code, so there is no tracking. If you need statistics, add UTM parameters to the URL and read them in Google Analytics.
Which format should I use for print?
SVG scales without blur and is best for print. PNG is fine for screens.
