Wi-Fi QR Code Generator

Guests asking for the wifi password

A café counter, an office reception, a spare room, a holiday let. The password is twenty characters of deliberate nonsense, reading it out never works first time, and the card someone wrote it on gets mistyped by every second guest.

Enter the network name, the security type and the password, and tick the hidden option if the network does not broadcast its name. The stock camera app on both iPhone and Android reads the result and offers to join, with nothing to install. Print it at a size people can scan from where they will be sitting.

Anyone who can see the code can join, so put it only where you would be comfortable saying the password out loud, and point it at a guest network rather than the one your own devices use. The password sits inside the code itself, so nothing is sent anywhere and the code never expires, but changing the password does mean printing a new one.

    Download as PNG or SVG and print it, or save the Wi-Fi guest card, a printable PNG with the network name and password written under the code.

Frequently asked questions

Is my password sent anywhere?
No. The code is generated inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
iOS 11+ and Android 10+ recognize Wi-Fi codes with the built-in camera. Older devices may need a QR app.
I don't know my security type.
Most routers today use WPA/WPA2. Choose 'None' only for open networks without a password.
Can I add a logo or change the colours?
Yes. Pick the code and background colours and place a logo image in the centre. A logo locks error correction to H, so test-scan before printing.
